LADY GAGA AT T-MOBILE ARENA Born into this world as Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta on March 28, 1986, morphing into the artist now known as Lady Gaga wasn’t the easiest path for this Manhattan native. She began her foray into the entertainment industry by performing in high school plays and studying at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. She got a bit part in the highly-acclaimed series “The Sopranos,” appearing as a classmate of Anthony Junior in a scene where he and his classmates break into their high school swimming pool. She is seated on the swimming pool smoking a cigarette in the episode. She seemed destined for greatness when she was signed to music mogul Jimmy Iovine’s label Interscope. When she was subsequently dropped from his label is when the budding music superstar found her rock bottom. She fell into a life of drugs and alcohol. In many interviews, she explains this period as her way of rebelling from her Catholic school upbringing and finding herself after dealing with PTSD from rape at a very early age. Luckily for us and all her adoring monsters all over the world, she found the strength to dig herself out of the deep, dark, consuming hole. She met a performance artist called Lady Starlight during this time, and they started performing underground avant-garde shows, which helped to create her Gaga on-stage persona. Channeling her idols Andy Warhol, David Bowie, and more she created one of the most influential artists in the music industry. She then started writing for pop powerhouses like Britney Spears and New Kids on The Block. Akon took notice and persuaded Jimmy Iovine to let him sign her back to Interscope records under his label KonLive, making her his franchise player. The rest is history: she was born this way, and her fans are forever in her debt. Gaga performs August 11 at 8 p.m. at T-Mobile Arena. Tickets are available at t-mobile.arena-nv.com and start at $78.00.
